Job Description:
The K-12 Dyslexia Interventionist will provide support and collaborate with building dyslexia reading interventionist on student assessment and identification. The Dyslexia Interventionist is responsible for providing specialized, targeted instruction to students identified with characteristics of dyslexia as set by Arkansas state regulations and guidelines. Other duties, but not limited to, are as follows:
- Assist classroom teachers by identifying and providing appropriate reading interventions for students who are not reading on grade level
- Actively engage students in the learning process by using best learning practices and tools to meet the diverse needs of individual learners with dyslexic characteristics
- Collaborate with administration, district interventionist, academic coaches, classroom teachers and parents to help identify best practices for individual and small groups of students
- Provide resources and training to teachers, principals and parents regarding dyslexia instruction and identification in the regular classroom
- Work cooperatively with classroom teachers to accommodate curricula as needed for dyslexia students according to guidelines established by 504 Individual Accommodation Plan
- Conduct on going assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing
- Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required
- Assist with Section 504/or IEP compliance at each campus
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Regular and punctual attendance to mandatory workshops and the workplace
