Job Description:
Responsible for assisting with all duties and/or functions related to running the school library on a day to day basis.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain professional behavior, appearance, and work ethic to represent the school district in a positive manner at all times.
Maintian a record of fixed assets and mark each item appropriately.
Enter all requisitions for building and follow up with appropriate paperwork.
Process lunch applications and verify.
Inform the Food Service Firector and Cafeteria manager of students entering and leaving the district.
Maintian monthly records for staff absentee reports.
Record teacher and instructional assistant absences as well as substitute teacher workdays.
Answer the telephone in an efficient manner.
Maintain reports for fire and tornado drills.
Responsible for funds, equipment and/or property.
Check books in and out.
Shelve and repair books.
Maintain shelves to insure that books are in their proper place according to category and level.
Assist students in finding books appropriate for their reading level.
Occasionally assist librarian in teaching the lesson plan for the week.
Help catalog and label new books as they arrive.
Update computerized library files when students enroll, drop, or change classes.
Assist teachers in finding books related to a specific topic of study or project.
Help maintain media room materials, i.e. videos, read-along books with tapes, etc.
Assist in year-end inventory.
Substitute as necessary.
Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
