Job Summary:
The School Security Aide supports a safe and secure school environment by assisting with student and visitor entry screening procedures. This role includes operating metal detection equipment, conducting bag checks, and monitoring entrances while maintaining a respectful, calm, and student-centered approach.
Key Responsibilities:

Operate walk-through and handheld metal detectors in accordance with school safety procedures

Conduct visual and physical bag checks when required, following established protocols

Monitor designated school entrances during arrival and high-traffic periods

Greet students, staff, and visitors in a professional and respectful manner

Ensure compliance with school safety and security policies

Report prohibited items or safety concerns immediately to school administration or security personnel

Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times

Assist with crowd flow to ensure orderly and efficient entry into the building

Document incidents or concerns as required

Support emergency procedures and drills as directed
Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent (required)

Prior experience in school security, safety, or related field preferred

Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to follow detailed procedures and protocols

Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform screening duties
