Job Description:

 

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintain professional behavior, appearance, and work ethic to represent the school district positively at all times.
• Demonstrate relentless commitment to the academic achievement of all students.
• Establish and maintain an orderly classroom environment in which students actively participate.
• Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the district’s curriculum program requirements.
• Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
• Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect an understanding of students' learning styles and needs.
• Teaches district-approved curriculum based on state frameworks and standards.
• Conduct an assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
• Work with other staff members to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
• Plan and supervise instructional assistant(s) and volunteer(s) assignments.
• Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned—sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
• Be a positive role model for students and support the school district's mission.
• Manage student behavior per student policies and the student handbook.
• Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Establish and maintain open communication with parents and students concerning students' academic and behavioral progress.
• Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
• Participate in professional development activities to improve job-related skills.
• Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
• Compile, maintain, and file all required reports, records, and other documents.
• Assume responsibility for assigned non-teaching duties.
• Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. 
• Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations. 
• Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or student life rules. 
• Develops reasonable classroom behavior and procedure rules and maintains order fairly and justly. 
• Attends all staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required. 
• Adheres to District, State, and Arkansas Activities Association’s regulations regarding eligibility of players.
• Actively leads and participates with the coaching staff in the skill development of all players.
• Maintains an open line of communication with students, parents, school administration, and district administration.
• Helps in all aspects of the college recruiting process.
• Establishes a culture of respect among coaches, players, parents, and the community.
• Works directly with the booster club to enhance the school staff and community relationship.
• Communicates high expectations of all involved, including school administration, staff, students, parents, and community.
• Creates a culture and climate of academic and athletic success.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Must pass a preliminary criminal background and child maltreatment check.

Knowledge and Expertise:

• Experience is not required but preferred. 

 

Work Environment:

 

Most job responsibilities for this position are in an indoor school environment that is temperature controlled (heated and cooled) according to the season. Games and performances will be held outside in non-temperature controlled environments. Noise levels are primarily low to moderate. This position is cognitively demanding and requires especially well-developed professional social and communication skills. This job position may experience periods of standing, walking, and sitting.
